Assistant Construction Project Manager
Location: St. Louis, MO or Columbus, OH (Office-Based with 20% Travel to Job Sites)
Position Overview:
The Assistant Construction Project Manager (APM) will support the Construction Project Manager (CPM), Site Manager, and/or the Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) Project Manager in overseeing daily operations of EPC projects, including project safety, quality, scheduling, cost control, and documentation. This role is primarily office-based but requires 20% travel to various project sites, with day trips and a company vehicle provided.
Key Responsibilities:
� Assist in the management of project safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, procurement, proposals, estimates, documentation, turnover, and client interface.
� Collaborate with the Project Management team to develop and implement Project Execution Plans, Quality Assurance Plans, Safety & Health Plans, Subcontracting Plans, and more.
� Support contract administration, including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and claims mitigation.
� Aid in project risk reviews and help consult with the legal department when necessary.
� Facilitate and track project costs, schedule, work breakdown structures, and field progress.
� Assist with procurement processes, including RFP preparation, bid selection, and contract documents for subcontractor and client contractor selections.
� Manage project documentation, including filing, inventory control, and permits.
� Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and project requirements across all activities.
� Support the invoicing process for prime contracts, subcontracts, and suppliers.
� Assist with staff onboarding, labor agreements, and training initiatives as required.
� Manage the materials receiving and management process, ensuring inventory control and efficient storage.
Qualifications:
� Bachelor's degree in Construction, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or applicable experience).
� Minimum of 3 years of relevant construction experience.
� Experience in T&D (Transmission & Distribution) and Substation projects preferred for CPMs.
� Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access).
� Familiarity with document control, scheduling, and project management software preferred.
� Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
� Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
� Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
� Must be able to meet the company's driving requirements.
Work Environment:
� 80% office-based with 20% site-based travel.
� Occasional day trips to job sites; company vehicle provided.
