NSC Staffing is seeking a highly skilled Journeyman Welder for an exciting opportunity to perform pipe welding on various metals within a shipyard environment. This role is ideal for experienced welders with a strong marine vessel repair and modernization background, including work on US Naval, Military Sealift Command, and commercial ships. Position Overview:
As a Journeyman Welder, you will be responsible for welding pipes of various metals, ensuring mechanical repairs, and modernizing marine vessels. You will also provide directions and support to welding helpers, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety procedures. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile military and commercial vessels in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities:
� Welding & Repair: Perform pipe welding on metals such as Aluminum, Copper-Nickel, Stainless Steel, and other materials to support repairs and modernization of vessels.
� Provide Direction: Supervise and guide pipe welding helpers to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
� Inspect & Prepare: Inspect and prepare work areas for welding, including the cleaning of joints and ensuring all necessary safety certifications are up to date.
� Quality Assurance: Ensure all welds meet the specifications and standards for military and commercial vessel repairs. Document weld inspections and address deficiencies when needed.
� Comply with Safety Standards: Adhere to all OSHA and company safety guidelines. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
� Documentation: Write condition reports, and assist with lock-out tag-out procedures and gas-free certifications.
� Hot Work Coordination: Communicate with fire watch personnel and ensure the worksite is prepared for hot work.
� Work Site Maintenance: Ensure the work area is ready for the next phase of work, including managing materials and tools as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:
� Must pass Alum, CuNi, Stainless, or TIG weld test.
� Must have at least 4 years of pipe welding experience.
� Proven knowledge of welding techniques such as SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW.
� Must have experience with P-3 joint with permanent backing rings, and P-14 socket weld joints.
� Must be able to interpret technical drawings, ship repair terminology, and Navy/MSC/ABS standards.
� Ability to work with and care for welding equipment, portable power tools, and hand tools.
� Must be proficient in reading and understanding technical drawings and specifications.
� Strong knowledge of welding theory and the ability to apply it to real-world tasks.
� Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide clear direction to helpers.
� Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs occasionally and up to 20 lbs frequently.
� Must be physically capable of working in confined spaces and at heights above 12 feet.

Work Environment:
You will work in a challenging shipyard environment that may include exposure to heat, cold, wind, and noise. The role will require working in confined spaces, elevated areas, and the potential for exposure to moving mechanical parts. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as per OSHA standards.
