Now Hiring: A-Class Pipe Welder

Location: Mobile, AL

$38.00 per hour 40+ hours per week!

NSC Staffing is currently seeking a skilled A-Class Pipe Welder for an exciting opportunity in the shipbuilding and repair industry. If you are an experienced welder with a passion for working on marine vessels and meet the qualifications outlined below, we want to hear from you!

Position Overview:

As an A-Class Pipe Welder, you will work alongside a team of pipe fitters and welders to perform welding tasks on marine vessels. You will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings, reading weld symbols, and ensuring the highest quality of work while adhering to safety and company standards. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with limited supervision while ensuring team productivity and high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:

Pipe Welding: Perform welding tasks on copper nickel, carbon steel, and stainless steel in the 6GR position.
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret drawings, welding symbols, and specifications to execute precise welds.
Weld Testing: Pass weld tests as required for the companies weld procedures.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with pipe fitters and other welders to meet production goals and maintain a positive team environment.
Quality Control: Inspect work and proactively identify and address potential issues to ensure high-quality results.
Safety & Compliance: Follow company safety guidelines, maintain a clean work environment, and ensure tools and equipment are properly stowed and protected.
Productivity: Contribute to innovation, productivity improvements, and waste reduction efforts in the department.
Mentoring: Assist in developing the skills of other team members and contribute to a positive team dynamic.
Overtime Availability: Must be available to work overtime as needed to meet production deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience:

Experience: Minimum 1 year as a B-Class pipe welder 2 years in a similar role at a comparable employer.
Welding Skills: Ability to pass �A-Class� skills validation tests, including 6GR position welds.
Certifications: Must be able to successfully complete onboarding and 6GR weld qualification tests for various materials.
Tools: Must have a full set of personal tools.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of ship terminology, welding procedures, and safety protocols.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to measure, add, subtract, multiply, and divide using the metric system.
Communication Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, memos, and basic correspondence.
Physical Demands:

Must be able to perform physical tasks such as bending, squatting, kneeling, lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and working in confined spaces.
Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights above 12 feet.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and more.
Ability to work in hot and cold environments, and withstand exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and mechanical parts.
Work Environment:

This position is based in a fast-paced shipyard environment, where you will encounter high noise levels, humid conditions, and exposure to mechanical parts, moving machinery, and chemicals. PPE is required at all times.
