Job Posting: Pipe Welder
Location: Newport News, VA
Company: United Energy Services
Pay: DOE, Up to $50/hour + $120/day per diem, paid 7-days per week

We are looking for PIPE WELDERS (previous Newport News Pipe Welding Experience ONLY) with five or more years of commercial/naval experience. This is an opportunity to work for up to two years.

Overview:

UES seeks skilled pipe welders for a long-term Newport News, VA project. The ideal candidates must be willing to work assigned shifts and have a strong background in welding techniques.

Qualifications:
Must pass a hair follicle drug test and a 7-year background check.

Required Skills:
Multi-pass. All position fillet and butt welds using the SMAW (Shielded metal arc) process
Ability to fuse inserts and weld carbon steel, stainless steel and copper nickel pipe using the SMAW and GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) processes
Ability to mirror weld using the SMAW and GTAW processes
Heating - Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch
Experience working in physically demanding environments (shipboard, sub-assemblies, ladders, staging, etc.).
Familiarity with OSHA regulations relative to the shipbuilding industry.
Ability to properly use fillet gauges, butt gauges, and a six-inch scale.

Welding Qualifications:

All positions using the SMAW and GTAW processes
Thin wall sockets (Required for below 0.187 wall joints)
The Welding School will administer tests for the following Qualifications:

Welders Vision Test (5 Minutes)
Visual Inspection of Welds Level I (4 Hours)
Pre-heat and Interpass (1 hour)
Fire Watch CBT (2 hours)
Torch Safety test and practical (3 hours)
Welding Qualification tests for: 503, 502, 541, 725, 506, 659, 556, 650, 664 and 557 (Testing will run approximately 2� weeks).Prior to performing work at Newport News all Shipfitters must successfully pass, without training, the above tests at the Newport News welding school.

Health, 401k, Dental, and Vision are all offered upon a 90-day new hire period. Must be able to pass a Hair follicle drug test (3-month look back) with randoms.
