Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled A- Class fitter to join our team. The Ideal candidate will have a strong background in fitting or fabrication and demonstrate technical proficiency in tasks and equipment operation. You will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with quality, safety environmental and health regulations while contributing to the successful completion of ship repair, new construction and fabrication tasks.

Authorities / Responsibilities:
Exhibit technical proficiency in tasks, work processes, and equipment operation.
Complete daily work assignments, including obtaining necessary signatures for work completion and quality assurance.
Maintain a compliant working environment regarding quality, safety, and health regulations.
Rig plates and equipment safely.
Follow directions and maintain cleanliness and organization on job sites.
Use craft-related tools and equipment safely and effectively, including millers, sanders, grinders, band saws, and more.
Obtain GMAW ABS ‘B’ Class Weld Certification for steel or aluminum applications.
Perform basic layout of plates and materials using engineering sketches and diagrams with minimal supervision.
Execute structural fitting functions such as fit-up, cutting, sanding, grinding, and prepping with minimal oversight.
Monitor the work environment to ensure compliance with safety and quality regulations.
Train and support lower-skilled workers as needed.
Be flexible with shift assignments and additional tasks outside of the craft as required.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience:
Minimum of 1 year as a B-Class Fitter or 2 years in a related industry required.
Successfully pass the approved A-Class Fitter Test.
Demonstrate proficiency and competency to supervision for an A-Class Fitter position.
Ability to interpret construction drawings, job specifications, and related documents.
Knowledge of equipment and techniques for measuring and fitting aluminum/steel components.
Competence in basic math and measurement using the metric system.
Familiarity with shipyard terminology, edge preparation, and weld joint details.
Advanced knowledge of engineering drawings and sketches.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand, walk, and manipulate tools for extended periods.
Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, and lift/push/pull up to 75 lbs occasionally and 20 lbs frequently.
Ability to work at heights above 12 feet and in confined spaces.
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment as per OSHA standards.

The work environment may include humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and exposure to loud noises.
