We are seeking Shipfitter to become part of our team!
Your responsibilities will include:
• Accurately interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine the layout, dimensions and placement of structural components on the ship.
• Cut, shape and form steel plates and structural shapes using cutting torches, grinders and other metalworking tools.
• Precisely measure and mark locations on the ship’s hull and interior to ensure proper alignment and fit components.
• Position, align and tack weld metal components together to build sub assemblies and install them on the ship.
• Perform welding operations to join metal parts, often requiring proficiency in various welding techniques and processes.
• Utilize measuring tools like levels, squares and plumb bobs to ensure accurate alignment and positioning of components.
Requirements for this role include:
• Candidates must have at least 4 years of machinist experience.
• Must have knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items for the position and trade.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic geometry.
• Proficient in various welding techniques and processes and in different positions.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches.
