About the Insulator Improver Role
As an Insulator Improver, you’ll work with minimal supervision to install and remove insulation on ship components, helping to minimize heat transfer, prevent condensation, and reduce sound. This role requires insulator experience and shipyard experience, allowing you to apply and expand your craft knowledge in a highly supportive and dynamic environment.

Qualifications and Experience
-Insulator experience required and shipyard experience required.
-Strong knowledge of insulation techniques for ship components.
-Proficiency in ship repair terminology and ability to read instructions, -diagrams, and tech manuals.
-Experience using hand and power tools associated with insulation work.
-Ability to safely operate in a shipyard environment and wear all required PPE, including safety harnesses and flotation gear.

Responsibilities
As an Insulator Improver, you will:

-Apply insulation on various shipboard structures, including piping, ducts, and machinery, with minimal supervision.
-Cut, remove, and fabricate insulation materials as needed to meet work specifications.
-Collaborate with journeymen and supervisors to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
Maintain safety and cleanliness in your work area.
-Guide helpers as needed, providing on-the-job training and support.

Physical and Work Environment
-Be prepared to work in diverse conditions, from confined ship interiors to high platforms.
-Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and lift heavy materials is essential, as well as prolonged standing and maneuvering in confined spaces.
-This is a hands-on role with exposure to loud noise and active equipment, so PPE compliance is mandatory.

Shift Details
-1st and 2nd Shift available
-40 hours per week with overtime available upon supervisor approval
