Role Overview:
As an Electrical Helper, you'll assist experienced Journeyman/1st Class or Improver/2nd Class electricians with a range of electrical installations, repairs, and hookups for shipboard systems. This role is perfect for individuals with some electrical experience, who are eager to grow their skills. Shipyard experience is highly valued but not required, making this a great opportunity for someone looking to expand their technical abilities in a supportive and dynamic setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support electricians in cable pulling, equipment installation, and inspections.
Prepare and organize the workspace, assist with drilling, grinding, and other preparation tasks.
Conduct cable terminations, fabricate connectors, and harness cables.
Test circuits and equipment for continuity and troubleshoot any issues with direct supervision.
Assist with Lock-out Tag-out procedures, ensuring safety and compliance.
Qualifications:
One year of related electrical experience is required, with shipyard experience preferred.
Familiarity with Ohm�s law, electrical theory, and basic safety procedures for electrical work.
Ability to interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams, and Navy standards manuals.
Comfortable working with power tools, and prepared to follow OSHA standards for PPE.
