Title: Instrumentation Controls and Electrical (IC&E) Technician

Key Project Requirements:
• 5+ years of Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical (IC&E) experience in a power generation and/or industrial environment, with proven journeyman-level proficiency.
• Hands-on experience with Ovation DCS, GE Mark VI/MKVIe turbine controls, and/or Allen Bradley PLC systems.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot from Distributed Control Systems (DCS) through Input/Output (I/O) modules down to field-level devices.
Job Summary:
PIC Group is seeking a skilled Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical (IC&E) Technician to support a 1,240 MW state-of-the-art natural gas combined cycle power plant in Bridgeport, Texas. The IC&E Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. This includes diagnosing issues, testing and calibrating systems, and performing hands-on troubleshooting across various control platforms and voltage levels. The position requires a commitment to safety, strict adherence to compliance standards, and the flexibility to work overtime or irregular hours as needed to support continuous plant operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of motors, transformers, control systems, wiring, and electrical components up to 4,160 volts.
• Troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain plant instrumentation and control systems, including DCS, PLCs, and relays.
• Support emissions testing and compliance through CGA, linearity, and NOx converter efficiency testing.
• Maintain system documentation, equipment files, and accurate maintenance logs.
• Assist with outage planning and execution in coordination with the Maintenance Manager.
• Interface with CEMS/DAHS providers to ensure software functionality and support system upgrades.
• Communicate job progress, system conditions, and any irregularities to the Lead IC&E Technician.
• Coordinate with contractors and initiate purchase requisitions to support maintenance activities.
Job Requirements:
• Strong working knowledge of power plant instrumentation, control systems, and electrical maintenance.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair PLCs, relays, and electrical systems up to 4,160 volts.
• Familiarity with LOTO procedures, arc flash safety, and hazardous energy control protocols.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), preferably Maximo.
• Preferred experience with CEMTEK CEMS and ESC DAHS systems.
• Experience with low, medium, and high-voltage switchgear and transformers is a plus.
• Forklift operation experience preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to walk, reach, climb ladders, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying temperature conditions typical of a power plant environment.
• Visual acuity and manual dexterity required to safely perform job duties.
• Must wear and properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE), including arc flash gear, gloves, hard hats, and safety glasses.
Education / Experience:
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Electronics, Electronic Instrumentation, or a related engineering field—or completion of a formal Instrumentation & Electrical training program—preferred.
• 5+ years of Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical (IC&E) experience in a power generation and/or industrial environment, with proven journeyman-level proficiency.
• At least 2 years of maintenance experience in a power generation or heavy industrial setting, with hands-on knowledge in the Electrical and/or Instrumentation craft.
• DCS experience required; Ovation DCS experience strongly preferred.
