Job Summary
The Engineer 1 is responsible for supporting the design and construction of power-related systems by applying engineering principles, design criteria, and software tools. This entry-level position contributes to the development of design options, cost estimates, and construction specifications while ensuring compliance with safety standards and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities
Apply engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications to develop system designs.
Assist in estimate preparation, development of design alternatives, and construction specifications.
Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance for contractors developing design solutions, estimates, and packages.
Foster a safe work environment by prioritizing safety in all activities.
Understand the full process lifecycle: planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance.
Collaborate with various internal departments involved in design, construction, and maintenance.
Understand and follow design practices, industry standards, and Southern Company work processes.
Use required design-related software applications effectively.
Support the development and application of system design standards and criteria.
Assist construction and maintenance teams in day-to-day operations.
Estimate material requirements for engineering projects.
Transmit construction packages and related specifications to appropriate parties.
