Requirements:
� Candidates must have a BS degree in Chemistry or a related field with a minimum of 12 semester hours in chemistry.
� Prior experience and knowledge of boiler/water analysis are preferred.
� Previous work experience in a water treatment plant and knowledge and experience in the production of deionized water are also preferred.
� Experience and competency in the use, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation/equipment, as well as knowledge of proper analytical methods and techniques, are desirable.
� Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred.
� Must be available for call-outs, overtime, evening or night shifts, weekend, and holiday work as required.
� Ability to recognize changes in color for titrations.
Responsibilities:
� Responsible for the production of high-quality demineralized water.
� Monitoring boiler chemistry and waste water, including operation and maintenance activities.
� Perform technical and analytical services essential to the operation of a fossil fuel power plant.
� Provide chemical protection for steam-generating equipment to minimize outages due to corrosion and deposits in steam cycle components, reducing efficiency loss and potential replacement needs for mechanical components (steam-generating, condensing, and turbine).
� Ensure compliance with governmental environmental regulations regarding water discharges.
� Compile, evaluate, and report statistical data related to plant performance and productivity.
� Operate and maintain water treatment plants for the production of demineralized and service water.
� Assist in maintaining an onsite sewage treatment plant.
� Perform analytical testing of boiler water chemistry and scrubber absorber chemistry.
� Responsibilities include calibration and maintenance of related equipment, as well as performing minor maintenance activities such as lubrication.
� Perform Hazmat team member duties, including respirator qualification, to unload hazardous liquid and gaseous chemicals.
This position plays a key role in ensuring the efficient and environmentally compliant operation of a fossil fuel power plant, focusing on water treatment, chemical analysis, and equipment maintenance.
