Job Description
** Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is looking for an experienced Substation Control Designer to fill a three- year assignment in the Birmingham, AL area.
This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.

Rates: $40.00 - $52.00
Per diem is available if you qualify
Requirements:
PPE Requirements: Hardhat, safety glasses, and safety-toed shoes/boots
This position requires approximately 25% travel
5-7 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor's degree in engineering technology or an associate degree
Required Qualifications:
Experience with Design type of work
Understanding of how to read design prints
Able to compare project drawings to the Company Standard drawings
Effective communication skills and able to provide detailed reports
Ability to travel throughout the Company footprint to perform project reviews
Basic understanding of Control Design tools and applications (AutoCAD Electrical, TEAMS, Stomps, SCST Vault, Maximo)
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiar with Substation layouts
Familiar with Relay Panel assemblies
Control Design experience is a plus
Job Duties
This position is responsible for Company Transmission and Distribution Substations design.
Responsible for providing engineering drawings, specifications, and material requirements for substation projects emphasizing safety, quality, scheduling, and costs.
Creating a safe work environment by putting safety first
Exceptional quality on design packages
Providing technical expertise, and guidance for inexperienced design personnel
Supporting Substation Field Services, Project Management, and other project stakeholders
Coordinating and communicating with associated departments
Supporting Companys design criteria and standardization effort
Providing support for storm restoration efforts
