Job Description
** Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is looking for an experienced Chemical Technician to fill a one- year assignment in the Wilsonville, AL area.
This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.

Rates: $25.00 - $28.00
Per diem is available if you qualify.
Requirements:
Required PPE: Respirator (Fit Test), Hard hat, Safety toe shoes, safety vest, safety glasses or if they wear glasses - side shields, full face respirator and cartridges, and harness for fall protection as needed. At the site, they use 3M Full face 6000 series respirators with cartridges for Ammonia and Organic vapor/acid gas cartridges. They also change cartridges as they unload or make/break connections.
AS degree in Chemistry or other field of science with a MINIMUM of 12 semester hours in Chemistry required
Prior experience and knowledge of boiler/water analysis preferred
Previous work experience in a water treatment plant preferred
Experience and competency in the use, calibration and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation/equipment; knowledge of proper analytical methods and techniques
Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred
Familiarity with mechanical parts and repair is preferred
Knowledge and experience in production of deionized water is preferred
Responsible for assisting chemists and chemical engineers in developing and testing chemical products.
Test chemicals for impurities, perform quality assurance, ensure that all chemicals produced comply with the applicable regulations and assess their environmental impact.
Perform regular testing to determine what chemicals a product or sample contains.
Track inventory, prioritizing orders, maintaining lab equipment and documenting the processes during each chemical test
Follow environmental regulations and review newly published safety protocols from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFRA)
Prepare chemical solutions, complete chemical orders and store solutions safely according to different temperature requirements
Conduct lab tests to ensure that chemicals are safe to use and recording and troubleshooting issues for further assessment
Compile and interpret lab test results and correcting potential anomalies in results
Monitor chemical processes and resolve production issues by meeting with the appropriate personnel
Produce and retrieve graphical results to share with lab managers or more senior personnel
Sterilize work surfaces and equipment before using them and replacing worn or damaged equipment as needed
Train new technicians on different chemical processes and periodically updating their knowledge of chemical technology
