Title:                     Operations & Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:  
PIC Group has an exciting opportunity for an Operations & Maintenance Technician to support a 578 MW 2-unit GE Alstom combined cycle gas-fired power station in Bellingham, Massachusetts.  The Operations & Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Operations Manager, and is responsible for the daily tasks required to operate and maintain all facility equipment and systems.  The Operations & Maintenance Technician will also work with any outage related maintenance, and maintain efficient and cost-effective facility operations, adhering to all compliance regulations regarding safety and environmental requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Effectively respond to and assist with operational and mechanical events to maximize plant availability and reliability.
•    Maintain shift operating logs and records as required.
•    Operate and monitor plant equipment and systems locally and remotely from the Control Room.
•    Perform regular equipment rounds, taking critical readings from instruments, and reporting abnormal conditions to management.
•    Efficiently utilize plant informational systems to provide timely troubleshooting and repair of operational abnormalities.
•    Handle mechanical maintenance tasks, routine Preventative Maintenance, in addition to inspections and troubleshooting, as assigned.
•    Assist in the development of standard operational procedures as assigned.
•    Follow safe working practices and identify hazards; follow through on corrective action as approved by Management.
•    Use Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document plant deficiencies, schedule internal/external work and order materials as appropriate
•    Manage vendor relationships around plant production schedules.
•    Complete required plant training as well as assist in the training of others.
•    Unload, handle and transfer bulk chemicals, de-mineralized water trailers, and take samples for analysis and testing.
•    Maintain plant housekeeping and security as needed.

Job Requirements:
•    Proven mechanical and operational trouble shooting skills.
•    Effective communication skills.  
•    Ability to work with minimum supervision.
•    Capable of working flexible hours, weekday shift vacancies, support plant start-ups, be on call and accept callouts, and work on short notice.
•    Intermediate level PC skills for information processing and data management, including PI and PI Datalink, EtaPRO, ALSTOM CDviewer, and Company Intranet.
•    Proficiency with MS Office, to include MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
•    General knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
•    Ability to operate a forklift and man-lifts as needed.

Physical Requirements:
•    Power Plant environment with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise.
•    Ability to safely climb ladders, and work in constricted spaces.
•    Ability to lift and carry materials up to 70 pounds.
•    Respirator use will be required.

Education / Experience:
•    High School diploma, trade school, military service, or technical school training required.
•    Must hold a Massachusetts Steam Fireman or Stationary Engineer’s license.
•    3+ years of experience in power plant machinery operations and/or maintenance with a fundamental knowledge of combined cycle gas turbine power plant or equivalent preferred.
