Job Description
Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently looking for a GIS Analyst with at least 5 years of related experience to work a hybrid position in the Atlanta area for a natural gas utility. This is a 2-year contract position.
REQUIREMENTS
5 + Years of Experience in a related field.
Master's Degree in Geographical Information Systems or related field.
Applicant may possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead critical GIS initiatives, ensuring optimal utilization of geographical data for strategic planning and business decisions.
Drive the implementation of advanced GIS methodologies.
Engage with top-tier stakeholders on GIS projects.
Mentor and guide the GIS team.
Collaborate with external GIS experts for specialized projects. Ensure alignment of GIS strategies with business goals.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The GIS Analyst will develop an understanding of current data state, workflows and processes and develop solutions for integrations, transformations and deliverables. This will include GIS data analysis, data mining, technical support and database maintenance to meet internal and external customers’ requirements. This role requires demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and recommend regarding the best track for data development and processing. Project work will involve process improvement, quality control, data creation from spatial and tabular sources, conversion, migration and maintenance.
REQUIRED:
Experience with Esri geodatabase design, structure and management – including the manipulation of tabular data in GIS, and joining/linking related data
Intermediate knowledge of SQL and relational databases
Thorough understanding of Esri ArcGIS (including ArcCatalog, ArcToolbox, ArcMap, ArcSDE and related products)
Knowledge of batch files and Python scripts to assist in repetitive daily activities
Ability to quickly learn new skills and abilities database technologies, data modeling, and scripting as needed
PREFERRED
Knowledge of publishing with ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS, including data versioning, multiuser and replication
Experience with Natural Gas Utility and/or working with Enterprise databases and geometric networks
Experience using Esri Data Reviewer and Workflow Manager Extensions
Experience converting data between CAD and GIS
Experience incorporating non-spatial Enterprise databases with GIS to fulfill ad hoc analysis requests
Development using Python, FME and/or Esri ModelBuilder
Strong understanding of content and document management applications

Utility Pipeline Data Model (UPDM) – basic understanding
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical project tasks, including database design, advanced GIS analysis and modeling
Performs data mining activities to meet customer requirements/specifications
Provides specialized queries, maps and reports to meet customer requirements/specifications
Performs application testing and documentation of defects
Interfaces with Information Services (IS) GIS Support group; represents users' issues
Interfaces with users; documents requested/needed changes
Performs weekly analysis on mission critical GIS data to audit and sustain data integrity
Develop methods and perform quality assurance/quality control on GIS and non-spatial data to meet quality goals
Serves as Subject Matter Expert on GIS projects and solution definition workshops
Identifies training requirements; creates and maintains training and procedural documentation
Identifies new GIS technologies/processes/applications to improve inter-/intra- departmental functions
Uses and creates automated processes using Model Builder/Python scripting or other tools
Processes, prepares and converts data to enter into GIS from a variety of data formats
Analyzes current business processes and recommends best practice solutions
