Position Summary (3 Year Contract) Attractive Rate and OT
The Mechanical Designer - Piping SR 3 role requires 20+ years of relevant experience in mechanical piping design. This position focuses on providing specialized design solutions in 3D piping and equipment for retrofit, environmental, and new generation projects. The role also involves producing detailed 2D orthographic and isometric drawings, P&IDs, and pipe support designs, and collaborating with engineers and designers across various disciplines to achieve safe, efficient, and effective designs.
Key Responsibilities
Develop 3D piping and equipment designs for various projects (retrofit, environmental, new generation).
Create 2D orthographic and isometric drawings, P&IDs, pipe support designs, and 3D models.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure design integrity and project goals.
Apply knowledge of applicable codes and standards in design and project development.
Gather and analyze field data to support deliverable creation.
Prepare material take-offs, select and size piping components.
Lead technical teams across disciplines on assigned projects.
Review and develop general arrangements for design optimization.
Required Skills and Expertise
Design Experience: Intermediate experience in mechanical piping systems, focusing on new construction and retrofit projects within power generation or similar heavy industrial facilities.
3D Modeling Proficiency: Skilled in using 3D modeling tools for piping layout and design; experience with AutoPLANT and/or AVEVA design tools is preferred.
Documentation Skills: Proficient in producing 2D orthographic/isometric drawings, P&IDs, and 3D piping/equipment models.
Technical Expertise: Strong background in basic piping construction techniques, practices, and concepts.
Material and Valve Selection: Knowledgeable in pipe/material and valve selection processes.
Project Management: Efficient in handling large, multi-concurrent projects with minimal guidance.
Independent and Team-Oriented: Self-motivated, organized, able to work independently, and a strong team player.
Construction Support: Experience in construction support and general arrangement review.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering teams, and vendors.
