Title:                   Coal Yard Operator
Position Type:    Contract
Location:            Delta, UT
Reports to:         Operations Supervisor
Status:               Non-Exempt

Job Summary: 
PIC Group has a dynamic project for a Coal Yard Operator to support day to day operations of a large 1,900MW coal power plant located in south central Utah. The Coal Yard Operator reports to the Operations Supervisor and will assist in the operation efforts of all steam, electric, pneumatic, hydraulic equipment, as well as bottom ash systems.  The Coal Yard Operator will work very closely with other operators and the Operations Supervisor to maintain the safe and effective day-to-day operation of the coal yard facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Responsible for the condition, correction, operation, and isolation of the non-power block systems and equipment associated with the coal yard.
•    Clean assigned equipment and area on a routine basis.
•    Checks all start and stop valves, in and out, and will monitor and make any necessary adjustments as required to maintain safe and efficient operations.
•    Responsible for performing all outside rounds, combustion materials conditioning, and limestone additive preparation.
•    Competently operate all FGD systems, bottom ash handling and coal pulverizing operation.
•    Confidently operate equipment, ensuring the safety of other personnel at all times. 
•    Initiate all work order requests for equipment in need of maintenance keeping Lead Operator and Operations Supervisor informed of such requests.
•    Rotates various pieces of equipment in and out of service as operating conditions dictate, or as directed by the lead operator or operating supervisor.

 Job Requirements:
•    Work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule to include Days, Nights, and Weekends. 
•    Demonstrated skill with FGD systems and bottom ash equipment.
•    Prior work experience with operating coal pulverizing equipment.
•    Be able to focus on and complete the task for the duration of the required shift schedule.
•    Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of plant personnel.
•    Ability to read and use plant drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
•    Ability to review current operating procedures and instruction manuals and assist in developing troubleshooting procedures for equipment.
•    Ability to work alone or in a group for a variety of tasks.
•    Ability to support various plant area assignments according to process needs.
•    Ability to give direction and take direction in the performance of various tasks.
•    Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements:
•    Position requires extended periods of standing and walking, working varied shifts with weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules.
•    Must be able to frequently climb ladders, enter confined spaces; crawl to and through confined space areas, climb to and work from elevated platforms and walkways at elevations of 75 feet or more.
•    Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells. 
•    Personal protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, chemical suits, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.)
•    Must be able to wear a respirator and use other safety equipment as required by plant management.

Education / Experience:
•    High School diploma or GED required.
•    7+ years’ experience as a Coal Yard Operator, Material Handler or equivalent position in an operating coal power generation plant.  
•    Advance consideration will be given to applicants with FGD systems experience.  
•    Valid state issued driver's license.
