Title: Accounts Payable Specialist

Status: Non-Exempt
Compensation: $30 - $32/hr
Job Summary:
PIC has an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist, supporting a power plant in Queens, NY. The Accounts Payable Specialist reports directly to the Accounting Manager and supports the overall accounting duties of the power generation facility, with emphasis on Accounts Payable. The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing and monitoring payments, preparing and monitoring expenditures, and ensuring all vendors, suppliers, and others are paid in an appropriate manner within the organization’s established time limits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Processing invoices for payments using Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and Great Plains (GP).
• Ensuring all invoices are paid in a timely and accurate manner while following established site procedures and protocols.
• Promptly resolving invoice discrepancies and disputes.
• Establishing and maintaining sound business relationships with vendors.
• Comparing purchase orders, prices, terms of payment and other charges to ensure accuracy.
• Processing transactions and performing accounting duties such as account maintenance, recording entries and reconciling accounts.
• Effective communicator with personnel at all levels.
Job Requirements:
• Proficiency with all data entry functions while ensuring accuracy.
• Prior working experience with Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
• Demonstrated capability in using basic math calculations.
• Proven attention to detail and accuracy, while also ensuring work has been reviewed for accuracy.
• Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks at one time.
• Effective listening and communication skills with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the site.
• Must be able to apply analytical thinking and problem-solving tactics to daily work.
Education / Experience:
• 4 year college degree in finance, economics required.
• 5+ years experience in an accounts payable role.
• Prior experience with Enterprise Asset Management and/or Great Plains strongly preferred, not required.
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $30 - $32.
