Title:                   Operations & Maintenance Technician
Position Type:    Contract

Reports to:         Operations & Maintenance Manager
Status:               Non-Exempt

Job Summary:  
PIC Group is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Technician to support operations of a 300MW Combined Cycle Power Plant located in Georgia. The Operations & Maintenance Technician reports to the Operations & Maintenance Manager and is responsible for operating, maintaining, and monitoring the plant to ensure safe and consistent operations of the facility.  The Operations & Maintenance Technician provides support for operations of all power plant systems, including responding to alarms, facility rounds, supporting plant shutdown, plant start-up, and routine maintenance per plant operations and maintenance procedures. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•    Operate Gas turbines, steam turbines and all associated equipment safely and efficiently
•    Meet the facilities established safety, environmental, operating and maintenance goals and objectives
•    Complete all required safety and environmental training
•    Maintain, troubleshoot and repair of all plant equipment; including instrumentation, control systems, mechanical, and electrical equipment.
•    Complete the Operations and Maintenance Technician Qualification Program
•    Perform operational activities required to support start-up, rounds, shutdown, and normal operation of plant equipment and systems
•    Report equipment conditions or other facility anomalies that could affect the plant status to the Shift Supervisor, Operations Manager and/or Maintenance Manager
•    Experienced in troubleshooting, calibrating, repairing, tuning, and replacing sophisticated I & C equipment and components. Must be able to maintain the plant equipment and components. Must be able to maintain the plant Distributed Control System and related equipment. Completion of training in modern I & C work is required.
•    Experienced in troubleshooting and correcting mechanical problems which include combustion turbines, pumps, compressors, valves and various rotating equipment. Will be proficient in alignment, rigging and equipment component inspection and repair.
•    Understanding of Mark 5 and Mark 6 control systems
•    Keep accurate operating logs, environmental records, and other administrative documentation needed to support the operation and maintenance of the facility
•    Complete required electrical switching and lockout-tagout of plant equipment and systems in accordance with approved facilities lockout procedures, industry guidelines and prudent operations and maintenance practices
•    Complete clean-up activities required to maintain plant cleanliness to include cleaning, painting, and trash removal from the various areas of the facility
•    Perform assigned preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, emergency maintenance and inspection of plant mechanical and electrical equipment
•    Respond to abnormal operating situations in a safe and environmentally conscious manner
•    Complete routine cycle chemistry testing and make the necessary adjustments needed to operate within the established facility operating parameters
•    Complete all tasks and instructions as requested by the Production Manager and/or Maintenance Manager
•    Respond to computer-generated data, instrumentation, gauges, readouts, and variations in color
•    Perform required field adjustments of plant equipment and systems to ensure that equipment operates in accordance with established operating parameters and environmental permit requirements
•    Comply with all required site safety requirements for corrective actions necessary to eliminate potential safety hazards in the facility

Job Requirements:
•    Knowledge of and ability to understand fundamental principles related to physics, mathematics, AC & DC electrical theory, heat transfer and fluid flow, thermal dynamics and chemistry
•    Possess specific experience with General Electric 7EA combustion turbine and General Electric 7FA combustion turbine preferred.
•    Knowledge of power plant safety, policies and procedures, especially in area such as chemical handling, high-energy systems, lockout tag-out, confined spaces, incipient fire suppression, first aid, rotating machinery, and heavy equipment
•    Proficiency and experience in the fundamentals of water steam cycle chemistry and other relevant plant chemistry applications

Physical Requirements:
•    Standing for extended hours and varied shifts, as required by schedules
•    Ability to frequently climb ladders; enter confined spaces; crawl to and through confined space areas; climb to and work from elevated platforms and walkways at elevations of 75 feet or more
•    Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells
•    Must be able to use other safety equipment as required by plant management

Education / Experience:
•    3-5 + years’ experience as an Operation & Maintenance Technician or equivalent in an operating or generating plant. 
•    Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred
