Title:                   Instrument Technician 
Position Type:    Contract

Reports to:         Maintenance Manager
Status:               Non-Exempt

Job Summary:  
PIC Group has an excellent opportunity for an Instrument Technician at a power station in Wisconsin. The Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instruments, control systems and electrical equipment in the power plant and the associated facilities. A successful Instrumentation Technician will perform highly skilled work related to the inspection, testing, adjustment, repair, removal, and installation of electronic and electrical power plant equipment and systems. The Instrumentation Technician reports to and supports the Maintenance Manager and will provide recommendations in the preparation of budgets. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Assist department lead technician in implementing a safety program within the department that complies with all established safe work practices (pre-job and post-job)
•    Trouble shoot, repair, and maintain the following:
          - Station HVAC and control
          - Tune station and auxiliary combustion control systems.
          - Makeup, wastewater, feedwater, and condensate system controls
          - Calibrate all transducers measuring pressure, temperature flow, and level.
          - Calibrate turbine/generator controls and supervisory systems.
          - Calibrate electric and pneumatic controls, operators, and positioners.
          - Air pollution emission monitoring equipment and complete all required reports and maintains all required files.              
          - Plant data acquisition system.
          - Environmental, including active carbon injection system, dry sorbent injection system and selective catalytic reduction system.
•    Safely work on equipment with steam pressures of 6000 PSI and 1000F
•    Complete instrument equipment records related to tests, modifications, repairs, and preventative maintenance. 
•    Complete necessary documentation for prints and drawings.
•    Maintain a high degree of proficiency by attending training programs offered and assist in the training of instrument trainees.
•    Maintain and keep electrical and pneumatic testing and safety equipment in proper operating order.
•    Prepare instrument maintenance procedures.

Job Requirements:
•    Knowledgeable and able to perform duties of technicians and trainees. 
•    Knowledgeable in the budget process, station cost center breakdown, accounting system, and the account numbers.
•    Computer literacy required; computer trouble shooting of plant computer control system. 
•    Work overtime as required.
•    Must reside/relocate primary permanent residence to within a 50 air miles distance of Alma, WI. 
•    Ability to operate overhead cranes, hijackers, stack elevator, pickup, end-loader, and telephone. 
•    Ability to manipulate test equipment, maintenance tools and equipment, ladders, cable, and wire. 
•    Must be or willing to become respirator certified

Physical Requirements:
•    Sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, lift (up to 45 lbs. and 75 lbs. occasionally), push/pull, crawl, twist upper body, climb hand-over-hand, bend, and reach/stretch.
•    Work indoors and outdoors, occasionally in extreme cold, heat, temperature swings, and frequently in extreme noise.
•    Frequently work around mechanical, electrical hazards, and occasionally work around fume/odor, dust, chemical, and toxic waste hazards, and exposure to ionization radiation. 
•    Frequently work at heights. 

Education / Experience:
•    3+ years’ experience as an Instrument Technician is required.
