Job Description


Project Controls involves monitoring and managing project costs, schedules, risks, and performance to ensure successful project delivery. Here are the key tasks typically associated with Project Controls:


1. Planning & Scheduling

• Develop project schedules using tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project

• Define work breakdown structures (WBS) and sequencing activities

• Monitor schedule progress and update timelines as needed

• Identify critical paths and potential schedule risks

2. Cost Control & Budgeting

• Develop project budgets and cost estimates

• Track actual costs against planned budgets

• Forecast cost-to-completion and identify cost variances

• Manage change orders and financial impacts

3. Risk Management

• Identify project risks and opportunities

• Develop mitigation plans for schedule and cost risks

• Perform quantitative and qualitative risk analysis

4. Earned Value Management (EVM)

• Track project performance using earned value metrics (CPI, SPI)

• Analyze cost and schedule variances

• Generate reports on project health and progress


Minimum Job Requirements

Position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of six years of related project controls experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

• Knowledge and experience in the Project Controls function and sub functions of cost and schedule

• Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, including schedule development, schedule control, and schedule analysis

• Experience in cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, financial reporting systems, budgets analysis, and cost variance analysis

• Knowledge of using schedule software tools, customarily acquired over time through education or practical experience

• Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion of multiple tasks under strict deadlines and changing priorities

• The ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance
