Position: Senior Project Director
Education: BS in Engineering or Construction Management
Certifications: PMI or PMP required
Travel: 40-50% thorough the US
Experience: Minimum of 15 years experience in project management for projects with a high degree of complexity and with multiple interfaces, with preference for experience in the management of the delivery of services and equipment for customers in support of power plant deployment projects.
Must Have: PM experience in at least $1 billion projects in the nuclear, energy, power plant, architect/engineer, oil and gas industries, EPC or DOE nuclear projects.
Reporting to the COO, this position is responsible for the day-to-day management of company's work performed to satisfy contractual obligations associated with the development and sale of company's power modules and related services to customers.
In consultation with and following turnover from sales to delivery/project management, the Senior Project Director will be responsible for work mobilization and execution of all functional activities to achieve contractual obligations and business objectives (e.g., P&L). Activities that will likely be managed, either directly or by assigned project managers reporting to the Project Director, include: Project Planning, design completion and readiness for deployment, Licensing, Project-Specific Engineering, Operational Support, Manufacturing and delivery of power modules and other supplied equipment and services.
The Senior Project Director will also be the lead point of contact with the client and with the applicable Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) company. Expected complexity of projects include high visibility, multi-year horizon for scope, intensive interfacing, international clients, high risk significance, and large commercial value all while working in an autonomous manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the overall planning and execution of activities needed to be performed to satisfy contractual obligations, in a manner that satisfies customer expectations, and achieves Company business objectives (e.g., profitability). This includes ensuring that cost, schedule, and quality expectations meet customer expectations as set forth in appropriate contracts.
Lead cross functional team in product realization project to complete design development and readiness for deployment of company's modular reactors and other company's supplied equipment and services.
Be a principal point of contact for client issues arising in connection with the performance of work under a client contract and ensuring prompt and appropriate resolution.
Provides direction and coordinates all client related contracts and supporting project team�s PMs, project control leads, and functional leads. Communicates and coordinates client and business objectives to all supporting project team leaders. Coordinates with organization management personnel to ensure appropriate assignment of qualified resources.
Responsible for managing schedule and financial performance for the assigned client project.
Has overall responsibility for client communications on execution-related issues. Ensures that the project file is appropriately documented to protect the interests of the Company. Accountable for claims being prepared timely and submitted to the customer.
Working with the Sales Account Manager, provides review and input on the feasibility of work outlined in proposals presented to customers with a focus on ability to execute proposed work, profitability and other pertinent execution factors.
Identify and inform the Sales Account Manager when the customer proposes new scopes of work to be performed so that modifications to existing contracts can be prepared, proposed, and executed as contract amendments or as new contracts.
Serves as the lead representative from the company regarding the companys participation and representation in power plant delivery project meetings held by the customer, its consultants, and/or the EPC or construction program manager.
Provides, at an appropriate frequency, periodic status reports to company's management with a focus on overall project status and execution of client deliverables, and other appropriate project control metrics including profit/loss, forecasting, earned value metrics, variance analysis and other related information.
Develops, maintains and controls client and contract-specific plans and procedures needed for the efficient execution of the program. Maintains the groups standard of high quality and timely completion of tasks. Develops, as needed, project instructions and other administrative directives in support of appropriate contract and project execution.
Documents and maintains, in a Client Execution Plan, the overall client schedule and program execution strategy.
Identifies and takes action to process scope change order requests and contract modifications as appropriate. Ensures that contractual commercial terms and conditions are satisfied and maintains an appropriate internal project record and correspondence with the customer to protect company's commercial position.
Interfaces with outside organizations representing company on project matters, including contract negotiations, and client interface in support of program execution.
Ensures that suitable personnel are assigned to client projects, especially project management and subject matter leads. This requires an expert understanding and implementation of project management, and a baseline understanding of licensing, project development, supply chain, construction practices, and experience in managing across such functions.
Provides leadership and guidance to participating company's project managers in their oversight of internal resources and contractors performing defined scope on behalf of the company.
Proactively identify and achieve resolution of project issues and anticipated challenges, including escalation of issues within the company's organization when necessary.
