[Mechanical Engineer] Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

System One is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a direct hire opportunity.

This role is open to a hybrid work model for candidates local to the Naperville, IL or Atlanta, GA area. Nuclear industry experience is required.

As a Senior Engineer, you will:
Design and modify key components, ensuring they meet rigorous specifications.
Lead technical reviews of calculations and design deliverables, while offering guidance and support and mentoring to junior engineers.
Work directly with customers to define design inputs, solve engineering challenges, and ensure project success.
Take on technical leadership roles in small to mid-sized projects, using your specialized expertise to deliver results that shape the future of power generation.
This position allows you to make strategic decisions that directly impact the technical, operational, and financial success of projects, all while fostering collaboration and innovation across teams. You�ll have the chance to work autonomously, applying your mature professional judgment to identify solutions and drive projects to completion.
If you hold a BS in Mechanical Engineering, have at least 7 years of relevant experience, and are ready to take the lead on groundbreaking projects, this is the perfect role for you.
Professional Engineering License is preferred but not required, and strong communication skills are essential as you collaborate with colleagues and clients alike.

In order to succeed in this position, qualified candidates will have the following:
BS in Mechanical Engineering degree from ABET accredited program.
Minimum of 7 years progressively more responsible commercial nuclear experience.
Effective written and verbal communication with clients, colleagues, and colleagues within other disciplines, project managers, and management.
Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations that apply to mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants
Possesses a technical mastery of engineering principles.
Demonstrates ability to perform review of complex calculations and design deliverables.
Professional Engineering License preferred, but not required.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e. without the need for work sponsorship now or in the future)
