Technical Advisor - Lead Engineering & Technical Support

SUMMARY:
Provide advanced expertise and support to SRNS operations to resolve broad to abstract technical issues with division and/or site-wide implications. Specific support provided will differ according to assignment, but generally include directing, planning, developing, implementing, and administering.
Technical operations related programs. Ensure technical aspects of operations or maintenance programs comply with governing directives.
Responsible for directing, planning, developing, implementing, and budgeting for various technical functions in support of the pre-conceptual design, construction, and start-up of process and testing facilities. Interacted and negotiated with vendors to resolve equipment, services, staffing, and technical issues. Evaluate and analyze equipment, instruments, and procedures needed to upgrade the operations programs. Evaluate, test, and procure new equipment and instruments supporting assigned operations programs. Ensure technical aspects of operations programs comply with applicable laws, standards, and DOE Orders. Serve on various committees regarding the standardization of equipment, instrumentation, processes, and training supporting SRNS and DOE operations programs.
Direct daily activity of other engineering and technical support specialists and serve as an area point of contact or subject matter expert for the most complex technical issues. Assist less experienced personnel with more challenging aspects of work and guide less senior employees to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies. Demonstrate cost and schedule awareness through timely completion of assigned tasks and projects.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred with a minimum of 8 -
12 years of related experience.
OR A
An Associate's degree and 12 - 15 years of practical experience would for the higher degree requirement.
OR A
A high school diploma and 15 - 20 additional years of practical experience would also be considered equivalent.
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE �Q� security clearance.
