Structural Engineer IV
Various power projects across the US - including combined cycle plants, nuclear projects, and plant retrofits.
Duration of Work Assignment: Direct / Long Term is Client's preference but a one year contract is also acceptable
Pay Rate: Not Defined / need Candidate's requested rate
US Citizen Required (Due to the nature of work, candidates must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States)
Scope of Work: We are seeking a structural engineer with experience supporting power generation and heavy Industrial projects. Responsibilities include the development of structural calculations, foundation and structural steel designs for various projects, from conceptual design through construction, including supporting structural site work. The successful applicant can look forward to projects including simple and combined cycle powerplants, nuclear projects, and plant retrofits throughout the United States that require all facets of structural engineering and design.
Job Responsibilities include:
Under minimal supervision, design medium to complex mechanical / piping systems using 2D and 3D design tools.
The successful candidate fully understands the process of design
development, preparing drawings using project specifications and discipline associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures.
The successful candidate shall be knowledgeable in the design of plant
mechanical and piping systems, able to develop piping and instrument
diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement drawings (GA), equipment plan, piping orthographic and isometric drawings.
The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of engineer's design development process.
The mechanical / piping designer fully understands the purpose and use of vendor documents and reviews mechanical supplier documents for accuracy.
Help coordinate mechanical / piping design activities work with other discipline groups.
Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university. (with a Structural focus preferred)
Minimum Experience: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in Structural Engineering and Design.
Minimum Experience to include:
Structural design experience with Power Plant and/or heavy industrial Projects.
Reviewing relevant codes, design documents, specifications, and construction documents to support structural design and project development.
Performing structural calculations, developing engineering reports, studies, specifications, and design drawings.
Fully understands the process of preparing engineering designs and drawings based on the contracted scope of work, project specifications while staying within established budgets and schedules.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures.
Experience with industry standard engineering software such as STAAD Pro, ANSYS, Mathcad, etc.
The successful candidate must have strong communication skills and be capable of collaborating with the multi-discipline engineers and designers
Preferred Experience:
Experience with seismic analysis and design of structures, systems, and components for
nuclear power plants.
Experience with AutoDesk Advance Steel
Professional Engineering (PE) license in any state within the US, and the ability to obtain
additional licenses through comity.
Physical Requirements: Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods. Communicating with others to exchange information
