[Electrician] Fiber Optic Electrician (25 Years of Experience Required)

Experience: The Fiber Optic Electrician must have (25) or more years of experience in the electrical field � Industrial, Marine or Commercial Nuclear applications.

Required skills:
- 1. Must have extensive knowledge of fiber systems onboard aircraft carriers and submarines.
- 2. Experienced in troubleshooting, repair, operation, installation, test, and checkout of Navy Ship or shore fiber optic systems in accordance with NAVSEA specifications.
- 3. Demonstrates proficiency in fiber optic connector building to including STs, SCs, and LCs on conventional and functional blown optical fiber/fusion splicing.
- 4. Has constructed IT Rooms and components including racks, patch panels, and cabinets
- 5. Experienced with identifying issues with fiber using a laser.
- 6. Proficient in identifying and installation/removal of fiber optic interconnection box (FOICB) equipment or parts requiring simple hand tools.
- 7. Possess extensive technical skills to work independently and to provide guidance to entry level installers/technicians
- 8. Performed work in nuclear propulsion plants and power generation systems
- 9. Must be proficient in reading and interpreting shipboard electrical installation drawings, wiring tables, schematics, and work packages.
- 10. Possess extensive knowledge of electrical components and schematic symbols in a system
- 11. Highly competent in reading and utilizing test procedures and work documents
- 12. Proficient in the use of basic fiber meters and test instruments (Tempo. OTDR).
- 13. Must be knowledgeable in lockout/tag out and hazardous energy control procedures.
- 14. Proficient in reading schematics and determine the cause of the fault in the system drawings and components.
- 15. Proficient in the use of basic electrician hand tools (i.e. Pliers, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, connector crimping tools, etc.)
- 16. Physically able to climb vertical and inclined stairs and ladders, crawl, bend, stoop, work at heights, and work in confined spaces.
- 17. Able to obtain a clearance (Secret/Confidential)

Required Safety Training / Qualifications:
Leased Labor Provider Company (LLPC) shall provide employees who have completed the following safety training and /or medical clearance. Leased Labor Provider Company shall provide documentation (copy of training, records, medical clearances, etc.) on Company Letterhead to Newport News Environmental, Health and Safety Department (O27) for review and approval prior to assignment of employees to work at Newport News.

All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE*) is to be provided by the Leased Labor Provider Company. All Personal Protective Equipment provided by the Leased Labor Provider Company shall meet the requirements of OSHA and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and /or as specified by Newport News.

1. Confined space trained in accordance with OSHA Standards 29 CFR 1915 Subpart B.
2. Hazard communication trained in accordance with OSHA Standard 29CFR 1915.1200 (1910.1200) (h) � (1) through (3) (iv).
3. Respirator trained and qualified. A Respirator Medical Clearance Examination as required by a Physician. The Respirator Training and Fit Testing will meet the requirements of Standard 29CFR1910.134 and each individual shall be trained in a negative-pressure type respirator, MSA COMFO CLASSIC. Newport News requires the use of a MSA COMFO CLASSIC Respirator only (approximate weight 12 oz.). Daily use of respirator may occur.
