Job Summary:
Eligibility for this position requires US citizenship; successful candidate must provide proof of US citizenship in order to obtain badge access to the site. Candidate must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements check. All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicable.
Major Responsibilities:
Support field engineering activities for ongoing construction work.
Support resolution of construction problems identified to Engineering via meetings, correspondence, field changes, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Construction Deficiency Reports (CDRs), etc., as relate to the CSA discipline.
Originate or check Civil/Structural engineering dispositions based on review of engineering deliverables such as steel and concrete calculations, Finite Element Analysis of structures, and specifications.
Review and coordinate technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction.
Schedule and monitor work activities and manage specifically assigned project activities.
Assist in constructability reviews.
Act as a mentor or coach for subordinate engineers.
Education and Experience Requirements:
BS in structural/civil engineering from an accredited university or college, and 9 years progressive related experience. In lieu of degree, 15 years of relevant experience is required.
Have PE license or ability to obtain in 12 months.
Must be a US citizen.
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education
Must be able to obtain site security badge for access to work site.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to independently execute the detailed design of complex steel and/or concrete structures.
Thorough knowledge and application of the AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, and ASCE 7.
Proficient in the use of structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL or SAP 2000.
Experience with CADD applications, such as MicroStation or Tekla.
Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions and of construction methods for concrete and steel structures.
Understands work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects.
Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.
Preferred:
Relevant experience working on a DOE Project
