[Design Engineer] Civil/Structural Engineer

GSE Solutions leverages five decades of proven industry experience and is searching for an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer.

GSE Design & Analysis specializes in providing consulting engineering services to the nuclear utility industry and operating facilities, including studies, calculations, analysis, drawing revisions, etc.

Pay Range- $110,000 to $150,000 annually, DOE.

Essential Functions:
Plan, conceptualize and create designs for new products.
Develop testing processes, and perform testing and validation of new designs.
Perform engineering calculations to support design work, both manually and using computer software.
Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors.
Document project development and design process in detail.
Visits clients to develop relationships, support project meetings, and develop new business opportunities. (In person and through video conferencing)
Supports Project Manager/Controls in preparing scopes of work, budgets, and proposal schedules.
Mentors less experienced engineers and consultants.
Support other disciplines and responsible engineers in support of assigned duties.

Competencies:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must have strong knowledge of engineering design and analysis.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must be willing and able to learn new skills/technical areas to support clients.
Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
Strong organizational skills & ability to manage multiple projects with deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to use tools for scheduling, projecting, tracking, and managing time spent on projects.
Ability to work as part of a team & mentor engineers.
Basic working knowledge of Microsoft 365.
Must be capable of obtaining unescorted access at nuclear plants and other facilities requiring background authorization.

Education & Experience:
BS Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
5-10 years of experience in design engineering for a firm doing similar work as D&A supporting nuclear and industrial projects.
Professional Engineers (PE) License preferred but not required, but must be willing to work towards PE License.

Physical Demands:
Occasional travel to industrial locations for walk-downs or design implementation support (PPE required, such as hard hats, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection).
Some travel may involve working in a hot environments (e.g., outside, turbine building, etc.)
Occasional travel to in a radiologically controlled area.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions:
General office environment (remote work).
Working environment is generally favorable.
Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
Ability to occasionally perform walk-downs at client locations (industrial, power plant, etc.).
Ability to travel (estimated 10-15%).
