Duties and Responsibilities
Provide technical training for the design for Civil Engineering tasks (i.e., site grading, utilities, drainage, and hydraulic structures). Primary training topics shall include:
1. Development of hydrologic storm runoff calculations and hydraulic calculations.
2. Preparation of site drainage and runoff detention calculations.
3. Design of site paving, grading, and soil erosion control.
4. Design of roadway and pavement.
5. Routing and design of underground utilities.
6. Preparation of earthwork quantities.
7. Preparation of Construction Specification Institute (CSI) specification.
Part of this effort includes training on how to prepare a Design Change Package (DCP), and other design deliverables following SRNS processes and procedures.
Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.
Work Hours: Up to a 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/l0's (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80's (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager.
Education:
BS Degree in Civil Engineering or BS Degree in Engineering with emphasis on Civil
Engineering courses, or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering.
Experience/Skills:
1. Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 15 years of recent Civil Site Design Engineering
experience in the DOE Nuclear Complex.
2. Candidate must be proficient in DOE Nuclear Complex Design Engineering processes and
procedures, and able to provide training in the above subjects to new hires in the Civil Site Design Group to expedite their learning curve and to improve their ability to produce design packages independently.
3. Candidate must be proficient in 2D Microstation CADD and familiar with Bentley Inroads.
4. Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of applicable National Codes and Standards and pertinent South Carolina Environmental Regulations.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Area Security Access: A DOE Security Clearance is not required for the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous SRS Design Engineering experience and working knowledge of SRNS design processes and procedures are strongly preferred.
