[Safety Specialist] Exciting Opportunity: Safety Specialist (Nuclear Outage): Per diem AND Mob/Demob

3-month contract - set to commence in March 2025
Per Diem Rate: $169/day for 7 days
Mob/Demob:
- Less than 500 miles = $400
- 500-1000 miles = $800
- 1000+ miles = $1200


The Contractor is to provide a named industrial safety specialist for support to EN during the Columbia Generating Station (CGS) refueling outage. The specialist will work under the technical direction of the Contract Technical Representative in accordance with this specific work release. The period of performance dates is listed above. These dates are subject to change as directed by the Contract Technical Representative.
- The Contractor will provide industrial safety specialist support to EN at the Columbia Generating Station, as requested.

The specialist will work under the technical direction of the Contract Technical Representative, with support as outlined below:
- Conduct safety and industrial hygiene inspections and audits to assure compliance our client's policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
- Minimizing liability by monitoring and enforcing compliance with safety requirements and Washington State regulations as it applies to a contractor, subcontractor or its employees.
- Review and become knowledgeable of the prime and general contractor’s liability as identified in the Department of Labor & Industries WISHA Regional Directive (WRD) 27.
- Review facilities, equipment and work tasks to assure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
- Resolve problems and provide cost interpretations relating to safety and health policy and procedure compliance.
- Perform industrial safety analysis and provide judgment decision for of areas of concern such as potential fall exposure issues, potential chemical exposure issues, high noise areas and lead based coating removal.
- Respond to on-site medical emergencies and render first aid treatment as required by individual certification protocols.
- Attend and represent Industrial Safety in meetings, event investigations and incident review boards, as assigned.
- Perform confined space, heat stress and indoor air quality monitoring and analysis as qualified and as requested.
- Provide industrial safety training, as qualified, and as directed by the Contract Technical Representative.
- Observe and comply with the Energy Northwest safety rules, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Observe and comply with the Energy Northwest Excellence Model.

Duties:

- Review and become knowledgeable of the prime and general contractor’s liability as identified in the Department of Labor & Industries WISHA Regional Directive (WRD) 27

Education/requirements:
- BS degree in Safety Engineering or related field and 8 years applicable experience; or an associate’s degree with 10 years of applicable experience; or 14 years applicable experience.
- A well-developed aptitude and skilled demonstration of the Core Values, Leadership Competencies and abilities/skills identified in the Abilities/Skills section of this position description.
- Managing a project from beginning to end.
- Preparing complex written reports.
- Preparing and delivering oral presentations to management and to internal/external organizations.
- Serving as a leader of a committee or task force.
- Facilitating group problem solving, decision making or strategic planning sessions.
- Leading bench marking, self-assessments or audits.
- Instructional experience.
