REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education:
Master’s degree in a fire protection engineering with 25 years broad experience in fire protection engineering, operations, marketing, strategic and business planning, or a bachelor’s degree in fire protection engineering with 30 years of experience as described above. If not degreed as described, must have 35 or more years of fire protection engineering related work experience with government facilities or projects with certification as National Fire Protection Administration (NFPA) Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS).

Experience/Skills:
30 or more years working at the Savannah River Site is preferred. Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 20 years of experience with Alarm and Detection systems. Ability to provide associated code requirements and review design documents associated with new installations and modification to existing fire alarm and detection systems. Capacity to identify installation, maintenance, inspection, testing, commissioning, and code compliance required as the Subject Matter Expert in the field. Expert knowledge of applicable NFPA Codes and Standards applicable to fire detection and alarm systems. Ability to gather data, compile information and provide written and oral reports to management.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Area Security Access:
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “L” security clearance, or higher as needed to support activities and responsibilities. An active DOE clearance is required to perform assigned duties.
Candidate must be able to perform field walk-downs of the job site that may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances over a half mile, climbing ladders to access remote areas, dressing out in protective clothing and environments where a respirator is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- NICET certification Level IV in Fire Alarm Systems
- 30 or more years working at the Savannah River Site is preferred.
- PE License in the state of SC
- Active DOE “L” or “Q” security clearance
