Talascend is currently seeking a Lead Auditor, Quality Assurance Engineer for a remote contract opportunity.
OVERVIEW:
The Lead Auditor, QA Engineer reports to the Senior Director, Nuclear Quality and Continuous Improvement. Candidate will have QA experience in NRC 10 CFR 50, Appendix B regulated environment. Ideal candidate will have current NQA-1 Certified Lead Auditor (ATL) and have experience with evaluation and qualification of NQA-1 Suppliers and commercial supply chain. The ideal candidate will also have extensive experience applying a graded approach to quality in environments ranging from conceptual design using collaborative environments to safety related design and activities supporting Preliminary Safety Analysis Report (PSAR) and licensing and construction permits. Experience with industry codes, standards and guides such as ASME, AWS, AISC, ASTM, EPRI, NEI, ISO, NEC and IEEE are strongly desired.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and perform Supplier and Internal Audits as a Lead Auditor.
Perform general assessment and critique of nuclear quality programs and assessments.
Review customer and regulatory contracts and develop baseline requirements matrix/documents.
Interface with customer and supplier QA representatives and provide solutions to technical and complex compliance issues.
Work with Supply Chain management to resolve technical and quality deficiencies with Suppliers quality oversight of critical procurements to meet project millstones and schedules.
Review internal and external engineering documents including design drawings, specifications, test plans/procedures, and other technical documents.
Evaluate and qualify (audit/CGD) suppliers and partners.
Plan and perform commercial grade surveys of commercial suppliers.
Support Engineering with the development and implementation of Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) plans.
Coordinate and host Customer and Regulator audits, surveillances, and visits.
Review and revise QA processes and procedures.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the Quality team.
Review quality affecting procedures (engineering, procurement, document control, records, testing, etc.) to ensure program compliance.
Review procurement specifications, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, task orders and agreements to ensure flow-down of applicable quality assurance requirements.
Review design drawings, specifications, test plans/procedures, and other technical documents for quality assurance requirements using a graded approach to quality when applicable.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in a technical discipline, business, management, or quality assurance field.
15+ years’ experience in a nuclear (NRC, DOE) Quality Assurance function preferred or in a regulated environment such as, EPA, aerospace, etc.
Current certification as NQA-1 Lead Auditor or other industry recognized certification.
Electrical and/or I&C experience and qualifications are highly desired.
Software Quality experience and qualification is highly desired.
Military experience or prior client experience is a plus.
The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
