Outage Electrical Technician – Diablo Canyon Power Plant, Avila Beach, CA
This is an outage temporary additional position supporting our upcoming refueling outage and is an IBEW represented classification currently subject to collective bargaining and union dues.

This position is contingent on ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access at a commercial nuclear power plant including background investigation, initial and random drug screen, psychological screen, and passing grade on written tests.
Department Overview
Diablo Canyon Power Plant's (DCPP) Electrical Maintenance Department is responsible for performing maintenance
and modification to plant systems, structures, and components during Refueling Outage periods.
Position Summary
This position's principal duties consist of engaging in all types of electrical work. May assist in the maintenance and testing of impedance, carrier, directional relays, motors, breakers, and valve actuators.
Responsibilities:
* Engage in all types of electrical work, which includes inspection, repairs, and testing of electrically operated devices.
* Assist in maintenance and testing of all types of electrical relays, which includes calibration, repair, and cleaning.
• Engage in the disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of motors, breakers, and/or valve actuators.
* Operates hand and portable electrical tools, such as drills, saws, wrenches, screwdrivers, wire cutters, meters, measuring devices, and benders.
The requirements to perform the above essential functions include 1) reading and understanding work orders, procedures, drawings, and other technical material and 2) a minimum of two year's experience in motors (fractional to several thousand horsepower), breakers (molded case to high voltage drawout), valve actuators (motor operated, i.e., Limitorque and rotor), repair, calibration, testing, relay operation, and maintenance. Must be able to work in and around radiation/contamination fields. Must successfully complete radiation worker and department specific training. Must be able to attend work as scheduled due to the finite nature of the assignment.
The physical requirements to perform the above essential functions include lifting (moderate to heavy - up to 100 pounds); transporting material on carts (up to 500 pounds); bending, stooping, and twisting; climbing (stairs and ladders); walking (up to five miles/day); working on stationary and/or swinging scaffolds up to 200 feet high; working in confined spaces and awkward positions; and standing for long periods of time. Additionally, ability to wear and work in a respirator in radioactivity contaminated and/or environmentally hazardous areas of the plant. These duties must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
