[Safety Specialist] Outage/2 openings/50-60/hr/1.5 OT/190 a day PD

a. Conduct safety and industrial hygiene inspections and audits to assure compliance with policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
b. Minimizing liability by monitoring and enforcing compliance with safety requirements and Washington State regulations as it applies to a contractor, subcontractor or its employees.
c. Review and become knowledgeable of the prime and general contractor’s liability as identified in the Department of Labor & Industries WISHA Regional Directive (WRD) 27.
d. Review facilities, equipment and work tasks to assure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
e. Resolve problems and provide cost interpretations relating to safety and health policy and procedure compliance.
f. Perform industrial safety analysis and provide judgment decision for of areas of concern such as potential fall exposure issues, potential chemical exposure issues, high noise areas and lead based coating removal.
g. Respond to on-site medical emergencies and render first aid treatment as required by individual certification protocols.
h. Attend and represent Industrial Safety in meetings, event investigations and incident review boards, as assigned.
i. Perform confined space, heat stress and indoor air quality monitoring and analysis as qualified and as requested.
j. Provide industrial safety training, as qualified, and as directed by the Contract Technical Representative.
k. Observe and comply with the safety rules, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Principal Accountabilities:

Required Education & Experience:
-BS degree in Safety Engineering or related field and 8 years applicable experience; or an Associates degree with 10 years of applicable experience; or 14 years applicable experience.
-Specialized training in industrial safety practices and WISHA/OSHA regulations and codes
-A well-developed aptitude and skilled demonstration of the Core Values, Leadership Competencies and abilities/skills identified in the Abilities/Skills section of this position description.
