Mechanical Estimator

Job Description
Globalpundits is looking to fill the role of mechanical estimator for a local client in Augusta, GA. We appreciate you taking the time to review the list of qualifications and to apply for the position.

Responsibilities:
• Evaluating the total project cost of various industries
• Experience analyzing and reading blueprints, construction plans, architectural plans, assessing material requirements, specifications, and estimating labor costs to provide accurate project quotes.
• Review source data including engineering documents
• Identify scope of work areas that require subcontract support or specially engineered equipment, and work with Supply Chain to write specifications and obtain pricing
• Identify scope areas that require subject matter expertise, and work with Proposal Manager to identify appropriate SMEs
• Researching the materials, sourcing options, labor, and permit costs for a given project.
• Working with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to get appropriate estimates.
• Preparing design/build budget estimates and value engineering estimates.
• Creating estimating spreadsheets and detailed proposals.
• Performing “Quantity Take?Offs” of materials and labor operations
• Coordinate resources and workload to ensure timely delivery of all proposals
• Review departmental performance and participate in annual evaluations
• Maintain estimating software data to ensure current costs
• Investigate and recommend best industry practices and standards
• All work shall be performed using CLIENT systems/software. Accubid Software.
• Work with Subject Matter Experts (SME) and Supply Chain to define scopes and issue
• RFQs for subcontracts.
• Review and QC estimate and pricing backup.
• Conduct weekly staff meetings to review workload and needs
• Travel to attend site visits, design reviews, contract negotiations

Work Hours:
Salaries are based off 50-hour work weeks, but the client could be flexible to utilizes various work schedules. This is an onsite role, and employees will be expected to work onsite in the office.

Qualifications & Experience:
• Advanced knowledge of construction of Industrial Plant Construction in general
• Scope of work within Mechanical systems inclusive of Heavy Civil/Civil utilities
• Estimate experience on mechanical, piping & rigging projects
• Minimum 4 years estimating experience related to industrial construction
