[Safety Manager] Decommissioning Site Safety Manager

Site S.H.&E. Professionals / Managers are responsible for understanding and auditing compliance safety policies and procedures within their organization. They work with the site managers and supervisors to identify potential safety hazards and risks, and then they implement plans to mitigate those risks. Site S.H.&E. Professionals / Managers also work with project teams to ensure regular safety audits and inspections are conducted and that policies are being followed and hazards are being properly addressed. They assist in investigating accidents and incidents to determine root causes and prevent future occurrences. Site S.H.&E. Professionals / Managers also implement training programs to educate employees on safety policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide professional input and review of Site-Specific Safety Plan when job or site conditions warrant special planning.
• Provide supervision and guidance to site documented competent/qualified persons.
• Review and approve JHRA’s safe work plans and coordinate with site managers and supervisors to ensure compliance with JHRA’s.
• Certification and training management, utilize Safety Plus training tracking application to monitor expirations and recertification requirements for project teams.
• Ensure safety audits are being conducted in Safety Plus by project teams, and personally conduct a minimum of one (1) safety audit per week.
• Maintain more than 50% of daily shift in the field to provide oversight of the crews, working with supervision, being visible to the client, and conducting safety walk downs.
• Ensures incident reporting and timely treatment of injured personnel in line with Champion injury protocols, including immediate notification to the third-party Risk Management Services of all injuries along with project chain of command.
• Ensure incident reporting protocols, panels of physicians, and the Accident, Incident, and Near Miss Management Playbook are filled out and posted in a general location.
• Immediate reporting of all incidents to the S.H.&E. Manager, S.H.&E Director, and the Corporate S.H.&E. Vice President in accordance with procedures and guidelines.
• Review with S.H.&E. Manager and share with project teams, Corporate Safety Data Metrics for analysis of any accidents or incidents for preventative action and compliance with statutory reporting requirements.
• Serve as subject-matter expert on safety-related matters, and ensure compliance with Laws, Orders, Regulations, and Standards (LORS).
• Develop personal relationship with project medical providers for timely care and treatment of injured employees, and occupational medical surveillance to ensure compliance with regulatory reporting and guidelines.
• Become familiar with and educate project teams on emergency response and evacuation procedures.
Stays well-informed of industry trends and regulations, maintain certifications, and seeks continuous avenues for growth and improvement.

• • Establish and maintain positive relationships with project superintendents, contractors, customers, and field personnel.
• • Maintain project SDS files and uploads to Safety Plus web.
Special projects as assigned. • A Safety Professional Certification CSP, CIH, CHST, OHST is desired, plus 3+ years of experience in a similar position or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• OSHA 30 Certification is preferred.
• HazWoper Certification is preferred.
• Solid understanding of OSHA and industry specific regulations.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite software.
• Utilize and become proficient with Safety Plus Web and APP, as well as Risk Management reporting and applications.
• Professional attitude and appearance.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrate a positive, proactive attitude to help motivate, coach, and inspire employee compliance with safety policies and practices.
Possess the ability to establish strong working relationships with employees.
Strong leadership skills.
Able to adapt quickly, in a self-confident manner, while managing critical projects simultaneously.
Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
Ability to travel as required.

Qualifications
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
The Site S.H.&E. Professional / Manager position works directly for the S.H.&E. Department with a direct line of reporting to the S.H.&E. Division or Regional Manager / S.H.&E. Director / Corporate S.H.&E. VP and then daily operations reporting duties to the Site Project Manager.
The Site S.H.&E. Professional may be required to work overtime, or weekends as defined by the needs of the department or project. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and listen. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to access all levels of a construction site, yard, un-even terrain, enter and exit buildings, and work in extreme weather conditions.
