[Structural Engineer] Structural Design Engineer

Overview


Join our team at Capstone as a dedicated Structural Engineer, where you will support design efforts with our partners at Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant. This position has the option to work as a contractor or hire direct.


Key Responsibilities


Understand the roles played by other disciplines on the project and coordinate and interface effectively with other engineering disciplines.

Participate in reviewing and checking designs, drawings, and data prepared by other engineers or subcontractors.

Prepare design studies, project scopes, and engineering estimates.

Manage budget, scope, schedule, and quality associated with the designated work assignment with minimal guidance and technical oversight.

Prepare electrical equipment procurement and installation specifications, and evaluate technical bids to select equipment.

Devise new approaches to technical problems.

Participate in field installation, checkout, and start-up.

Direct and oversee routine and advanced technical work performed by others on assigned projects, and maintain quality standards on all assigned projects.


Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.

Minimum of 2 years of power system design experience in the nuclear industry.

Demonstrated proficiency in the preparation of structural calculations is desired.

Knowledge of discipline-specific computer analysis codes as well as standard office production software.

Proficient in Word and Excel.

Familiar with the International Building Code and building code design.

Good writing, presentation, and communication skills.

Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams.

Familiar with concrete and steel design codes and with working stress and ultimate strength design approaches.

Nuclear facility experience, or uranium enrichment facility experience, is strongly preferred.

Familiarity with NRC regulatory requirements, particularly 10CFR70, is preferred.

Ensure plant designs contain adequate safety features based on best nuclear industrial facility practices and lessons learned.
