Duties and Responsibilities
Provide design and construction oversight of structural engineering tasks to SRNS. Structural engineering tasks include: analysis of structural systems for both static and dynamic loads using manual computation and computer programs; design of concrete structures; design of steel, aluminum, stainless steel, timber and composite structures; foundation and anchorage design; structural analysis for impact, overpressure, and other accident conditions; preparation of CSI specifications; and review of vendor documents.
Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.
Work Hours:
A 40 hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each work day has a 30-minute lunch.
Education
Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years' experience. OR
A MS with 8+ years' experience. OR A BS with 10+ years' experience or more.
Position specific: BS Degree in Civil Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in either Civil or Structural Engineering.
Experience/Skills
•Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of ten (10) years experience in design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities. Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of STAAD. Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as IBC, AISC (ASD and LRFD), ACI, AWS, NFPA, and OSHA.
•Candidate must be able to perform weekly field walk downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances of over half a mile, climbing of ladders to access remote areas, and dressing out in protective clothing.

•Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance
Nice to Have
•Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years is preferred.
•Previous SRS Design Engineering or DOE facility experience is preferred.
•Proficiency in using MicroStation 2D Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software is preferred.
