[Instrumentation Engineer] Principal I&C DESIGN ENGINEER - Aiken, SC (3 Openings)

Education & Experience: Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years' experience. OR A MS with 8+ years' experience. OR A BS with 10+ years' experience or more (BS Degree in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, I&C Engineering, or current registration as a Professional Engineer in one of the above disciplines.).

Top Skills & Years of Experience:
- Candidate must demonstrate ten (10) years of direct I&C design experience (within the last 15 years) in the nuclear or process chemical
industry.
- Candidate must demonstrate design experience with process control instrumentation, PLCs and distributed control systems
- Proficiency in using MicroStation 2D Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software is required.
- Candidate must be able to perform weekly field walk downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed.

Nice to Have:
- Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years is preferred.
- Previous CLIENT Design Engineering or DOE facility experience is preferred.

DUTIES (SPECIFIC FOR THE POSTING)
Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to CLIENT. Primary responsibilities include engineering analysis, walkdowns, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: P&IDs; Control Logics; Loop Diagrams; Instrument Indices; Setpoint Lists; Instrument and Control Valve Specifications; DCS and PLC Design; Instrument Location and Installation Design; Panel Layouts; and Vendor Document Review.

Engineering services shall be provided using CLIENT processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by CLIENT.

Work Hours: Up to a 40-hour work week is scheduled. CLIENT utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/l0's (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80's (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes CLIENT holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education: Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years' experience. OR A MS with 8+ years' experience. OR A BS with 10+ years' experience or more.
Position specific:
BS Degree in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, I&C Engineering, or current registration as a Professional Engineer in one of the above disciplines.

Experience/Skills:
Candidate must demonstrate ten (10) years of direct I&C design experience (within the last 15 years) in the nuclear or process chemical industry. Candidate must demonstrate design experience with process control instrumentation, PLCs and distributed control systems. Proficiency in using MicroStation 2D Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software is required.
Candidate must be able to perform weekly field walk downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances of over half a mile, climbing of ladders to access remote areas, dressing out in protective clothing and environments where a respirator is required.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Area Security Access: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years is preferred.
Previous CLIENT Design Engineering or DOE facility experience is preferred.
