Sr. Safety Analysis Specialist

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is recruiting a, Sr. Safety Analysis Specialist, for a 12-month contract assignment supporting the Hanford Waste Treatment Plant near Richland, WA. This role offers a W2 hourly base rate with time and a half for overtime, per diem, and mobilization / demobilization.

U.S. Citizenship is required.
Full-Time Telework
20 or more hours per week but less than 40 hours per week

Project Overview:
Responsible for the development and maintenance of nuclear safety documentation and nuclear/ chemical safety program implementation for assigned activities within the WTP Nuclear Safety Engineering Department, specifically for activities associated with design completion for the HLW nuclear facility. Applies broad and diversified knowledge of nuclear principles and practices to project engineering. Collaborates with other engineering disciplines and organizations and makes decisions independently concerning problems within the nuclear discipline on the project.
Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to management.

Position Responsibilities:
Safety basis document development and maintenance, calculation development, design document reviews, and other facility nuclear safety activities for HLW and associated facilities.
Participate in and lead Hazard Analysis activities in support of the HLW Safety Basis
Preparation of the Preliminary Documented Safety Analysis including developing/defining controls and responding to and resolving internal and external comments.
Requires interaction with other engineering disciplines and operations personnel as well as the client.
Participates in and fosters a work environment based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
Develop plans and engineering studies to resolve technical issues
Prepares Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs) and Chemical Safety Management Program elements
Leads multidiscipline team working to mature and finalize the HLW Safety Basis

Basic Qualifications:
Level 1: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Nuclear Engineering, or other engineering field from an accredited college or university, and
9 years of applicable experience
Level 2: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Nuclear Engineering, or other engineering field from an accredited college or university, and
13 years of applicable experience
Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship
Knowledge of DOE nuclear safety processes and approaches, including development of consequence calculations and criticality safety
calculations.
Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computers in the discipline.
Knowledge of DOE regulatory codes and standards, and design and/or layout criteria pertinent to nuclear safety.
Demonstrated skill in oral and written communication and ability to collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and other disciplines.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check
which includes verification of employment and education.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply
with security requirements to obtain a badge)
Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
Design experience with radiological/chemical process systems
Knowledge in nuclear safety/engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as a nuclear engineer at a major commercial, industrial, or nuclear facility.
Experience working on DOE or DOD government projects, preferably, design of nuclear or chemical process facilities.
Experience developing TSRs
Experience performing hazards analyses and authoring nuclear safety documentation.
Ability to plan and schedule assigned work and complete tasks on time.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to work with people of varied backgrounds and objectives.
