[Mechanical Designer] Mechanical Designer - CREO/Windchill JS-3016

General scope:

We are seeking a mechanical designer to produce high quality engineering design packages for components and subsystems of multiple neutron scattering instruments. These instruments are scientific experiment stations with unique requirements and incorporate custom configurations of various mechanical and electronic components, many of which are one-of-a-kind articles including support structures, positioning systems, vacuum vessels, neutron optic structures, radiation shielding, and others. In this role, you will work alongside other instrument engineers and designers to fully develop these component and subsystem designs. This position would be ideal for those who would like to work in a machine design development environment. Specific job duties include:

� Take complex engineering designs from conception through detailed design

� Create engineering models and drawings using Creo/Windchill

� Prepare clear, complete, and accurate working plans and detail drawings from layouts, rough, or detailed sketches and from written or verbal instructions

� Perform tolerance stack ups to assure proper fit in assemblies

� Successfully communicate and collaborate with engineers and scientists throughout the design process

Work arrangement:

Fulltime, Mon.-Fri., onsite at the STS Project Office. Occasional remote work on a limited basis may be possible but is not guaranteed. Work will be performed under the general supervision of the STS Instrument Engineering Designer Team Lead.

Minimum Qualifications:

� Associates degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience

� At least 5 years of experience using Creo CAD and Windchill PDM software

� Knowledge of the technical concepts of drafting and engineering principles, codes, and standards

� Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

� Ability to effectively communicate design concepts to engineers and other designers

Preferred Qualifications:

� Experience working with Creo skeletons and top-down design

� Working knowledge of creating model annotations within Creo

� Design for manufacturing experience

� Experience working in an accelerator or nuclear environment

� Experience working in a team environment with other designers on large assemblies comprised of thousands of parts and sub-assemblies

� Experience in weldment design and American Welding Society (AWS) symbology

� Experience in communicating with vendors and fabricators
