[Mechanical Designer] Airswift opportunity - Mechanical Design Engineer

Airswift is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work with one of our major nuclear clients, in a 2-year contract with working location in Southport, NC.

The individual will perform engineering work for Mechanical Discipline projects within the Central Design Engineering organization. Current qualification at a nuclear utility as a Modification Engineer under an INPO Accredited Program and knowledge of Consolidated Asset Suite for design and work order development is highly desirable.

The individual will be required to obtain qualifications for a Modification Engineer and Design Verification Engineer prior to working independently. The selected individual will act as the Lead Technical and/or Responsible Engineer for assigned
projects and in a support capacity on other projects. The individual will field follow implementation, develop revisions, complete post modification testing, and turnover of design products. Implementation follows a Site schedule, and the individual may be required to support the design implementation off normal hours.

Responsibilities:
• Design package development
• Developing conceptual designs and specifications for bidding purposes
• Evaluating alternatives
• Technical support during implementation
• Setpoint development
• Coordination of design efforts with selected vendors/AEs/designer and conducting design package reviews
• Design products for mechanical systems and components
• Mechanical system evaluations/analysis can be expected
• Individual will be required to qualify in the necessary duty areas to act independently as a Responsible Engineer
for modifications within the company with past qualifications and product demonstration from other utilities as an
acceptable alternative
• Exhibit sound technical judgment and guidance to the engineering and implementation team

Additional Responsibilities:
Workers at this level solve more complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision. Workers
are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with even greater independence. They effectively apply
fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressing complex and varied
