Job Summary
Support the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) in project management and
integration, regulatory assistance, project support of all functional areas and development and
operational support for NNSA process facilities. Provide strategic planning support services to
the NNSA missions being performed by Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS), LLC. The
primary focus of these support efforts shall be to provide assistance, leadership, and support to
the SRNS Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF) initiative through the
development, editing, revision, and submittal of Critical Decision packages and the writing and
editing of documents supporting the Project. In addition, the Senior Technical Writer/Editor will
support the Project by editing and writing Contracting Officer (CO) Letters being submitted to
the NNSA. Supporting any actions assigned to SRPPF as a result of CO Letters coming from the
NNSA is also a critical function of this position. In addition, the contractor will provide support
for strategic planning activities relative to the other NNSA Projects, as directed by management.

DUTIES

The Senior Technical Writer/Editor may be called upon to deliver a wide range of services and
tasks:
• Develop Technical, Programmatic, and other Project related documents for Senior
Management, from start to finish, working with Subject Matter Experts.
• Reviewing the work of technical team members to provide constructive input into the
final product.
• Edit and proof-read documents to ensure a high-level of standardization and compliance
with company requirements.
• Draft and Review Contracting Officer (CO) Letters for accuracy and compliance with
client requirements, as directed by Project leadership.
• Review existing documentation for accuracy, relevance, gaps and opportunity for
improvement.
• Attend meetings, observe work, and conduct interviews to capture and document process
details.
• Oversee other writers and contributors to ensure high-quality deliverables and timely
project completion.
• Contribute to and review procedures, proposals, marketing material, research
deliverables, and any other type of documents.
• Manage cross-functional integration and coordination of Project disciplines.
• Manages timelines and plans to deliver on writing assignments.
• Research best practices, conducts round table discussions to resolve disagreements,
collect feedback, test ideas.
• Assist the Project in the preparation of Critical Decision (CD) submittal packages.
• Assist the Project with requirements related to project controls and Earned Value
Management System (EVMS).
• Mentor team/ technical writers.
• Additional duties as assigned by management.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent to a science, engineering, or task relevant discipline.
The following table shows the Equivalency Requirements that may be applied in lieu of
education and experience. The evaluation must explain in detail when using these
equivalences. (See evaluation)
(1) General Education Development (GED) or vocational degree = high school diploma
(2) A.S./A.A. degree = Two (2) year general experience
(3) B.S./B.A. = Four (4) additional general experience
(4) M.S./M.A. = Six (6) years additional general experience
(5) Ph.D. = Eight (8) years additional general experience

Experience/Skills:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience supporting commercial or federal science, nuclear
engineering or other task relevant programs or projects.
• Minimum 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and
experience.
• Project support experience with nuclear facility operations, Conduct of Operations and
Readiness Reviews, preferably at the SRS.
• Site experience/knowledge with facilities and management at SRS is vita

Work Hours:
A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRS utilizes various work schedules, including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has a 30-minute lunch. Work hours in excess of forty hours a week may be required, as authorized by SRNS management.
