Safety & Health Specialist

Provides conventional technical assistance to field operations on low to moderate risk scopes of work to ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, Local and/or company safety and health regulations. Under general guidance, applies principles gained through formal education and/or significant work experience. Analyzes workplace activities and potential hazards to support initiatives within assigned facility(s) through review of work packages, walk downs, and observations. Usually functions as a generalist responsible for multiple Safety & Health (S&H) facets within assigned facility(s). Responsible for identifying and mitigating hazardous conditions that affect workers, property, the environment, and the general public.


REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS: U.S. Citizen
Must pass Savannah River Site (SRS) drug and alcohol screening and have had no previous record of drug or alcohol-related convictions.

Certified as Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)/ Occupational Health and Safety Technologists (OHST) a plus;
Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP), or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) pursuant thereof preferred.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Health, or Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or demonstrated equivalent and a minimum of three (3) years of field experience. May substitute relevant work experience in lieu of Bachelor degree.
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of Safety & Health standard theories, practices, concepts, principles and techniques;
Demonstrates working knowledge of pertinent Safety & Health practices and applications.
Must have a flexible schedule to work on-call as delegated by schedule. Previous experience with of Safety & Health standard theories, practices, concepts, principles and techniques.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Operational experience in dynamic and challenging environment.
Knowledgeable of technical aspects and able to display competency in the daily aspects of both industrial and construction safety. Must be familiar with and able to apply OSHA regulatory requirements to conditions in the field and make official interpretations of requirements.


WORK.HOURS:

AREA SECURITY ACCESS:

The 40-hour workweek schedule will be determined by the assigned facility to accommodate the current demand of work evolutions and shift rotations. Candidate may be assigned to various shift schedules.
