Machine Shop Technician 1 in Mechanical area executes machining and/or assembly operations. The role is an Individual Contributor who performs multiple assignments in support of machining, mechanical assembly, repair, refurbishment of equipment, components or tooling systems. The person may perform electrical, mechanical and visual inspections; follows standard procedures and is closely supervised; and communicates information that requires little explanation or interpretation.Your Day to DayResponsiblieties/Duties
- Ability to verify basic dimensions with measuring instruments and/or analyze specifications and determine tooling by applying knowledge of metal properties, machining technique, and mathematics.
- Comprehend basic fundamentals of mechanical parts and equipment, and/or machine metal work pieces, tools or parts.
- Set up and operate machine tools, surface grinders, lathes and milling machines. Operate CNC Machine Tools.
- 0-2 years relevant experience with demonstrated electrical, mechanical, machining or inspection skills. Specific knowledge of electrical or mechanical drawing, or machining plus required mathematics.
- Preferred: Nuclear Industry experience.
- Ability to lift 50lbs or more.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented and multitasking skills.
- High School degree or equivalent.
- Preferred: Associates Degree related to electrical, mechanical or machining, or equivalent.
- Preferred for applicable positions: United States Department of Labor Journeyman Certification.
