Senior Engineer in Radiation Engineering & AnalysisThe Radiation Engineering & Analysis (REA) group at Westinghouse is looking for a nuclear engineer, a physicist with an interest in nuclear applications, or a similarly-credentialled engineer to support its continued growth. REA has supported the design and analysis of PWRs since the early days of the commercial nuclear power industry. Our scope includes the full life cycle (design to operation to decommissioning) of the global PWR and BWR fleets and several advanced reactor designs such as the Westinghouse AP1000® plant and eVinciTM microreactor. Our market is global with customers in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. To meet this demand, our staff is also global with engineers in the U.S., Spain, and Germany. This broad technical basis, continually evolving expertise, and global footprint make Westinghouse and REA an ideal place to continue your career growth.The Senior Engineer will expand the capabilities of our existing staff in Germany and abroad with the exact role tailored to the skills and experience of the successful candidate. The role would involve some combination of technical work (analysis), Germany-specific Licensing, and project coordination. This coordination includes working with internal project managers, collaborating across internal groups and departments, and communicating with external customers. The primary responsibilities for this role include:
- Own and lead specific scopes on large decommissioning projects
- Creation of Licensing documents according to German Atomic Energy Act (AtG), German Radiation Protection Act and Final Storage Regulations. For example:
- Sampling plans
- Repository design concepts
- Cutting and packing plans
- Waste packaging documentation
- Radiation Protection Documents
- Support for the Decontamination & Decommissioning (D&D) of retiring plants
- Radiation source term calculations
- Post-irradiation compositions using ORIGEN and other SCALE codes, etc.
- Radiation shielding calculations (point kernel, MCNP, etc.)
- Decay heat analysis
- 5+ years in nuclear engineering or radiation protection
- Experience in Creation of licensing documents according to German Atomic Energy Act and German Radiation Protection Act
- Skilled in leadership for technical teams and communication with customers
- Strong technical interest, predisposition for multi-tasking, flexibility, understanding of project priorities and teamwork abilities
- Experience with radiation shielding and dose calculations
- Strong language skills in both German (C1 required) and English (B2 required, C1 preferred) are required.

- Berechnung von Strahlungsquellen
- Nuklidvektoren nach dem Einfulss von Bestrahlung mithilfe von ORIGEN und anderen SCALE-Codes usw.
- Strahlenschutzberechnungen (Point-Kernel (z.B. MicroShield), MCNP, etc.)
- Zerfallswärmeanalyse
- 5+ Jahre in der Kerntechnik oder im Strahlenschutz
- Erfahrung in der Erstellung von Genehmigungsunterlagen nach Atomgesetz und Strahlenschutzgesetz
- Qualifiziert in der Führung von technischen Teams und der Kommunikation mit Kunden
- Starkes technisches Interesse, Veranlagung für Multitasking, Flexibilität, Verständnis für Projektprioritäten und Teamfähigkeit
- Erfahrung mit Strahlenschutz und Dosisberechnungen
- Gute Sprachkenntnisse in Deutsch (C1 erforderlich) und Englisch (B2 erforderlich, C1 bevorzugt) sind erforderlich.
