Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for an Electrical Designer opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN at the Y-12 National Security Complex.

Clearance: Active DOE L or Q (or DOD Secret of Top-Secret) security clearance preferred. Uncleared candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
Work Schedule: Mon.-Thur. 10-hour days (4/10 schedule)
Citizenship: United States Citizenship required

Summary
Electrical Designer to support new and modified plant electrical systems at 13.8 kV down to low voltage systems, as well as controls and instrumentation designs.

Responsibilities:
Preparation of drawings in MicroStation, preparing data sheets, specifications, reports, reviews, and estimates (both material and engineering labor hours) working as an integral part of a multi-discipline project team.
Will often work in concert with an electrical engineer and other CAD drafters from the same workgroup.
Typical drawings may include one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, lighting/power plans, installation details, feeder/circuit sizing, and conduit/cable schedules, fire alarm, and communication drawings. A thorough understanding of and demonstrated previous application of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other similar national consensus standards is desired.
Must be able to support construction and operational activities related to design outputs.
Field walk-downs will be required sometimes in radiologically contaminated areas.

Minimum Qualifications:
Associates or higher degree in a technical field and 10 to 15 years of related experience or, high school diploma and 20 or more years of relevant experience.
Requires demonstrated in-depth knowledge and skills in a technical specialty.
Recognized as a subject matter expert in their field.
US Citizenship is required.
Active Q clearance is preferred. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.
