Sr. Structural Engineer - T&D Construction - Hybrid Contract Opportunity (Must live near Birmingham, AL)

Job Description
GSE Workforce Solutions is currently working with a major client who is looking to hire an experienced Sr. Structural Engineer - T&D Construction for a long-term contract position from their main office located in Birmingham, AL.

• Please note that the position is based in Birmingham, AL, however, so you should live close to this location, although they will consider a ‘Remote’ option for the right candidate.
• Contract Duration: 9 months with possible extension.
• Local candidates preferred.
• This position requires driving, so you must have a clean driving license.
• Start: around 03/18/24.
• Pay is DOE.

Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in Civil/Structural Engineering required with an advanced degree in a related field preferred. Professional Registration (PE) desired
• Position requires at least 10 years’ experience in Civil/Structural engineering related to the new construction and/or retrofit of power generation facilities or other similar heavy industrial facilities.
• Detailed knowledge of engineering design principles, competence in structural steel and concrete design, and proficiency with structural codes, standards, and industry methodologies.
• Proficiency with STADD/STRUDL, PCA Column/Mats, ANSYS, MathCAD, Excel, and AutoCAD

Details:
• Detailed knowledge of structural steel and concrete design principles and industry methodologies.
• Significant structural steel connection design experience.
• Proficiency with structural codes and standards.
• Demonstrated extensive knowledge of heavy industrial structures and components.
• Strong computer skills - proficiency with structural computer programs such as STAAD PRO.
• Proficiency with OSHA regulations.
• Able to coordinate and manage multiple large-scale, multi-discipline projects.
• Able to perform structural inspections and provide written reports.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Additional Duties:
1) Provide Structural engineering services and field support.
2) Conduct preparation of designs and calculations.
3) Conduct site walk-downs of construction sites.
4) Develop cost estimates and material takeoffs.
5) Provide schedule and staffing input for projects.
6) Produce and check structural steel design calculations and drawings.
