[Civil Engineer] Principal Civil/Structural Engineer (2 needed)

HukariAscendent is a Woman-Owned, Small Business specializing in comprehensive engineering and technical support services associated with commercial nuclear power and Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear activities.

We are looking for a Principal Civil/Structural Engineer with the following qualifications:

Must be US Citizen, DOE L or Q in last 2 years preferred.

DUTIES

Provide design and construction oversight of structural engineering tasks to SRNS. Structural engineering tasks include: analysis of structural systems for both static and dynamic loads using manual computation and computer programs; design of concrete structures; design of steel, aluminum, stainless steel, timber and composite structures; foundation and anchorage design; structural analysis for impact, overpressure, and other accident conditions; preparation of CSI specifications; and review of vendor documents.

Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
BS Degree in Civil Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in either Civil or Structural Engineering.

Experience/Skills:
* Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of ten (10) years experience in design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities.
* Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of STAAD.
* Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as IBC, AISC (ASD and LRFD), ACI, AWS, NFPA, and OSHA.
* Candidate must be able to perform field walk-downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk-downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances over a half mile, climbing ladders to access remote areas, dressing out in protective clothing and environments where a respirator is required.
* Experience in 2D Microstation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) is preferred.
* Previous SRS design engineering experience is preferred.

Work Hours:
A 40 hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each work day has a 30-minute lunch.

Area Security Access:
The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. Afterward, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments. Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (“L” or “Q”) within the past two years are preferred.


Estimated duration: 12 Months (2080 hours S/T and 720 hours O/T per year)
