Talascend is currently seeking a Civil Superintendent - Tanks & Concrete Foundations for a contract opportunity in Port Arthur, TX
SUMMARY:
The Tanks Civil Superintendent is responsible for supervising and directing all civil operations within the tanks discipline. This requires highly skilled /experienced supervisor for a multi discipline workforce, subordinate supervisors, and with extensive knowledge and experience of LNG Tank Construction with strong ES&H leadership. Ensures assigned construction performance is following specifications and within schedules and budget.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide ES&H leadership to personnel assigned to the tank area. This includes preparation and implementation of safety procedures and leading client and subcontractor safety meetings and participating in safety investigations.
Inspect site for unsafe conditions and practices and take appropriate action to correct deficiencies.
Coordinate safety training and enforce safe work practices at all times in conjunction with the Environmental Safety and Health Supervisor.
Champion the cause of ZERO Accident Philosophy. Ensure that client and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.
Monitor the activities of craft to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
Responsible for the cost, schedule and optimization of craft labor and maintaining the construction schedule, the 90 day and four week look ahead schedules for labor and equipment.
Review craft time records using established automated tools.
Review and approve subcontractor equipment/personnel mobilization and demobilization.
Responsible for implementing corporate project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned tank operations.
Responsible for the implementation of project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations. Monitor work activities to ensure the safety and quality of work performed and compliance with project specifications.
Prepare material requisitions for tools and consumables and coordinate through Procurement to obtain these materials.
Assist in performing construction testing as required.
Provide input to reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecasts.
Plan the manpower and equipment required to execute the job.
Perform employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities for subordinate tanks personnel.
Perform other duties as required by client management.
Coordinate activities with other discipline superintendents or area superintendents and client resident representatives, as necessary to meet project objectives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 10 years demonstrated experience in heavy industrial concrete installations with strong supervision experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge and experience of engineering and construction methods and processes with an emphasis on prestressed, heavily reinforced concrete ACI-376 full containment LNG tanks which should include extensive knowledge and understanding of jump/climbing formwork system fabrication and installation, wall reinforcement prefabrication and installation, prestress duct, anchorage and embed installation.
Knowledge of vertical and horizontal post tensioning works (including strand installation, tensioning and grouting) PTI level1/2 certification preferred.
Knowledge of full containment LNG Tank works and sequence including, internal concrete layers, precast concrete bearing ring, bottom and wall insulation, outer tank carbon steel liner and inner tank erection, tank top installation works and tank wall external structures.
Knowledge of requirements for Lock-Out / Tag-Out.
Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet applications.
Ability to work with multi-national employees and across different languages.
Ability to train less experienced team members and provide mentorship to others.
Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Work requires the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces.
Lifting will be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule as required that may include but not limited to nightshift or split shift.
